The Board of Trustees is made up of member dentists who volunteer their time in service of the PCDS and the community. The
purpose of the Board is to create oversight and direction for the PCDS.

The Board Works To:
  • Promote the elevation of the ethical standards of the profession.
  • Promote unity and harmony among dentists and the elevation of standards of practice.
  • Promote the enlightenment and direction of public opinion in regard to the problems of dentistry, so that the profession shall
become more capable and honorable within itself and more useful to the public in the prevention and cure of disease and in
prolonging and adding comfort to life.

                                                                         President's Message

Welcome and congratulations!  As a member of the Pierce County Dental Society, you belong to one of most vibrant dental societies
anywhere.  For 124 years we have been the face and voice of dentistry to this diverse community. Our local dental society is the most
tangible representation of the ADA.  Give Kids a Smile, Homeless Connect, Pierce County Dentists Care and Dental Health Day are
just a few examples of our concern for the community.  Monthly society meetings, the annual Spring Meeting and Field Day are a few
examples of our connection to each other.  These interactions lead to lasting friendships, a sense of purpose and a more fulfilling career
in dentistry.

Pierce County is home to some of the world’s most respected clinicians and progressive practices.  We practice solo, in groups, in
urban and rural settings, within the military and from community clinics.  Together through PCDS, we form one voice with which we
can address critical issues, exert political influence, and inform and provide service to the public and one another.

Many of us pay our dues and do not engage in using the membership.  The individual wonders why they belong to organized dentistry
at all.  This is akin to buying an automobile and never getting into the driver’s seat.  I urge you to grab your keys, buckle up and head
out on the highway.  The benefits far outweigh the small time commitment.  You will meet wonderful people during your journey.

Our executive director, Cheryl Mina, and her assistants, Cindy Stephen and Jennifer Bunch, are available to help you get the most from
your membership.  As many of you already know, our staff is consistent with our dental society – the finest anywhere.  Call them.  They
will find just the right dental vehicle specifically designed for you.

I deeply appreciate this opportunity to serve, sharing this adventure with many others who volunteer their time and talents.   Please
contact me whenever you wish.  I look forward to meeting you along the road.
