May President's Message - Dr. Guillermo Chacon

Dear members:
And just like that, my year as president of the Pierce County Dental Society is up!
It has been a great honor and a pleasure to have served as your president for the last 12 months. Without a doubt one of the most rewarding professional experiences of my career. I had the opportunity to work side by side with some old friends and also meet other colleagues whom I probably would have never met if it wasn’t for this. I want to start by thanking all the members of the board, who have been diligently working alongside me to further the mission of the PCDS, Drs. Stuart Hersey, Perry Ormiston, Tina Olsson, Tiffany Lamberton, Michi Katafuchi, Evan Mitchell, Kim Nordberg, Jed de la Paz, Julie Fuller, Thomas Gessel, Michael Chiulli, Sonia Pal, and Karl Smith. These individuals personify the best of the dental community in Pierce County. Their selfless dedication to our profession, hard work, and vision helped me navigate the last year and their combined efforts made our mission possible. I also want to thank Cindy Stephen for her years of dedication and for keeping me straight during my time as president. She does most of the heavy lifting, which makes our jobs easier and more enjoyable. And finally, I want to thank all of you, our members. Without your participation and support none of what we do would be possible.

We have a great dental community in Pierce County, with lots of personal and professional talent. I feel very fortunate to be in the trenches with you every day taking care of our patients and our community. I look forward to continuing to participate in our organization’s activities as just another member. I would also like to take this opportunity, once again, to encourage our newest members to get involved in the leadership positions of the PCDS. If you have friends who are practicing in our county who are not yet members, or are members but their participation has lagged, encourage them to jump in and be part of the group. Together we have a strong voice and as a group we can help shape the future of our beloved profession, which has given so much to all of us.
